Local Capacities for Peace

The world we live in today is too often characterised by divisions based on race, ethnicity, religion and gender, and are often seen as motivating forces behind violent acts. Civil society is increasingly becoming aware of the need to bridge these divides.

CWS-P/A believes in promoting peace and harmony in the region. This project focusses on how aid agencies – both those that provide emergency assistance and those that are involved in supporting development – can do what they do best (relief and development) and, at the same time, ensure that their aid does nothing to worsen conflicts and helps local people find options and alternatives to conflict. In the various training programmes, an interactive approach is applied and participants are encouraged to enter into dialogue and discuss these issues.
