Life in the humanitarian world has always entailed risks, though the nature of those risks has perhaps shifted over the past two decades. In recent times, humanitarian workers have been routinely targeted often as a result of a misperception of the aims of their organisations, making important work, often undertaken in precarious conditions, even more hazardous.

The Regional Risk Management Project has been specifically designed to strengthen the skills and expertise of local and international humanitarian workers in their home countries and abroad.

This will be achieved in the following ways:

  • A series of workshops in Bangkok, Colombo, Islamabad, and Jakarta

The first regional workshop is "Developing Risk Management Awareness" and will be held from August 30 - September 3, 2010 in Bangkok. For more details, please refer to the Brochure and Application Form. The application deadline is August 4.

  • An e-alert service which will focus on unique information from our specialized risk management network
  • A comprehensive security manual translated into local languages across Southern Asia
  • A regional conference in Bangkok which will feature expert speakers from across the industry spectrum, discussing risk management, strategy development, and the impact of future security policies.
